What I do

Handyman covering Wingham village and the CT3 villages around it - Adisham north-west on the railway, Ash east along the A257, Preston north towards the Wantsum, Staple south-west into the orchard belt, Nonington south towards the North Downs. Ten services: general repairs, guttering, timber repairs, small roof, painting, fence-and-gate repair, small plumbing, small electrical, flat-pack, property maintenance. Why Wingham needs a Wingham handyman

Wingham High Street sits inside a Dover District Council Conservation Area. Listed-cottage stock is common along the High Street and around the market square. Repair-and-like-for-like work on those elevations does not need Listed Building Consent, but timber choice, mortar mix, paint scheme and profile-matching all matter. A handyman from Canterbury or Ashford will not know the Dover DC picture. I flag anything that might trigger LBC at quote stage and work with the Dover DC conservation team as a routine part of the job.

Behind the village the land runs into the East Kent fruit belt - orchards on the Preston, Staple and Adisham sides, working farms towards Nonington. Weather comes in hard in winter. Blocked orchard-leaf gutters, blown-in fence panels, wind-driven rain finding lead-flashing gaps on old chimneys, timber sash-window sills that let water in for a month before anyone notices. • A proper job or you pay nothing. On completion I walk you round the finished work. Anything not right, I stay until it is - or you don't pay.

• Parts at trade cost, no mark-up. The bill breaks out labour and parts separately. You see what everything cost.
• Listed-frontage aware. Repair scope on CA and listed stock uses matched materials and quiet fixes. Anything that might trigger LBC is flagged, not sneaked under.
• Photo record on completion. Useful for house-sale packs, insurance claims after storm damage, and future maintenance visits.

What I don't do

• Notifiable electrical work (Part P). Registered sparks only.
• Gas-side boiler and cooker work. Gas Safe only.
• Structural changes (removing walls, altering lintels). Structural engineer first.
• Full re-roofs. Roofing firm with proper team and skip.
• Anything that changes a listed-elevation appearance without proper Listed Building Consent. The paperwork is your protection.
